There were 2 big reasons why I wanted to do this project. Because I’ve been raised in such a privileged town, I often forget how lucky I am to have what I have and have the freedom to pursue anything I want. It’s so easy for me to get lost in the small things that aren’t worth worrying about and I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on myself and how I’ve gotten to where I am today. I knew I wanted to help kids less fortunate than I am: I wanted to help those who live day- to- day, unsure of the future. I hoped that if they were given the resources to fall back on a passion or a talent like ballet, they may turn it into a beacon of hope and a chance at a future. I really wanted to give kids the platform to rewrite their future. A big part of how I’ve been able to become the person I am today is because of dance. Dance has been the best gift the world could have given me. It has both its good and bad sides, it’s made me smile and it’s made me cry, but it made me the person I am today and I really wanted to find a way I could give back to the world for letting me discover dance.
